Indian Weddings

The traditional Indian wedding is about two families being brought together socially, with as much emphasis placed on the families coming closer as the married couple. This is radically different from the marriages in the west where the couples rarely care about the families of their spouses. There the wedding is meant to be the unison of just the couple and the role of the family is marginal.
Though most Indian marriages are arranged, some couples in urban areas consummate "love marriages", in which the partners decide to marry each other without family involvement or assistance.
Indian Hindu Weddings  are very filled with ritual and celebration that continue for several days. Generally anywhere between 100 to 10,000 people attend an Indian wedding. Many wedding customs are common among Hindus, Jains, Sikhs, and even Muslims. They combine local, religious and family traditions. An Indian wedding is typically an event where there is joy and fun for everyone in the family. Most of the weddings and related ceremonies continue for several days.
Wedding ceremonies are not the same for every community although there are several things in common in these ceremonies.
